Jeremy Savian is a cabinetmaker, furniture maker, and woodcarver working in the New York City area. After getting his bachelor's degree in industrial design at Carnegie Mellon University, he started doing cabinet work at Shelburne Design in Ipswich, Massachusetts, and then worked at C&D Aerospace in Huntington Beach, California, working in both design and production of aircraft interiors. While earning his Ph.D. in anthropology, focusing on traditional arts and artisanal culture, he apprenticed with a master woodcarver in Inami, Japan, for two years, working on carvings for Buddhist temples. He was a visiting professor of anthropology at the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford before moving to New York and opening his workshop in the Red Hook neighborhood of Brooklyn.
